Booting from Live DVD Linux Lite 3.0 hangs at splash screen and goes no further.  Computer is an old Sony Vaio with a Pentium "M" processor, 2 GB memory. Have wiped the HD for a clean install but am stuck at the splash screen when booting from live DVD.

Have you tried booting in Safe Mode from the live menu?
