I need to install software that was in the Ubuntu software center (QUCS circuit simulator to be specific) but I can't find it through the synaptic manager or apt-get.

First, you need to add the repository:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fransschreuder1/qucs

Then, update apt-get database

Code:

$ sudo apt-get update

and finally install QUCS

Code:

$ sudo apt-get install qucs
