micro sd card partition problems

The card is in a slot in the phone..its a htc hero and is connected to my laptop with usb cable. The card was bought with the phone, its a 8gb scandisk card
I dont have a micro sd card reader.


I try the recovery mode to see if i can format the drive there.

I gave it up. I cant find any solution to the problem online. Also been trying to install a custom mod but it keeps giving error saying it cant find the update.zip file.
Its either the phone that isnt working with me or i am not smart enough to install a custom rom.

Did you try any of the phone forums specific to your model? Maybe someone out there is experiencing the same issue.
