I'm unable to copy and paste files to folders - the 'paste' button is greyed out. How can I reset this.
Many thanks for your help again.

You need to provide people with more details of your problem, for example location and destination of files being moved, owner of files etc,,,  Thanks

Using a USB mouse, I'm unable to copy & paste any personal data files (videos, Office documents, etc) in any direction, i.e. to/from 'Desktop', 'USB', and '/home/mike'  locations.

When I click on the  mouse the 'copy' option appears as normal but the 'paste' option (though visible) doesn't work, i.e. it is greyed out and therefore not able to work.  The copy option appears as normal when I click on the mouse. This is the first time I've  experienced this problem - I'm working with LL2.8.

Cheers
Mike

Two posts following your above advice, one containing the output from  'ls -la', appear to have been deleted from the forum (maybe the result of removing a bad mod from the forum that you reported recently), the other where you stated that the output looked normal but that maybe code may have been introduced inadvertently, which had upset normal functioning.

I appear to have solved the 'copy & paste' issue.  My young son said he didn't himself do any coding work on LL but he did install Minecraft, together with OptiFine, the latter being a Minecraft optimization mod. These did not originate from the LL repository, so it could have been that one of these (or both) introduced some rogue code because when I deleted both Minecraft and Optifine normal 'copy & paste' functionality returned. I will therefore mark this post as solved.  Thanks for your time in trying to help me with this one - much appreciated as always.
