Linux Mint incorrectly installed

I installed Linux Mint 32 Bit version onto a 64 Bit Presario CQ58 laptop inadvertently and now want to remove it but am baffled that the 64 bit version will not boot up.
Can I remove the 32 bit version and replace it? Keep trying but due to unfamiliarity am struggling.

While we wait for a better answer I do have something to mention to you. Even though you can run a 64 bit OS on your laptop doesn't mean you have to. Are you planning on running software that will only work on 64bit? If your laptop has 4 gb. of memory or less you can use the 32 bit system. It'll work fine. A 32 bit system can't use more than 4 gb. of memory. It's actually something like 3.75, but I forget the exact amount. It's a limitation of the OS. Give it a little thought before you wipe off the OS, especially if your laptop is working well & does what you want.

I installed the 32 bit after fitting a new hard drive; I just thought the 64 bit may have been more suited (and I have it to hand anyway) to the laptop.
One other observation is that I am completely unable to connect to the internet wirelessly even though I have entered the correct password/key. I thought this may have been a result of the wrong OS having been installed.

when installing Linux Lite you have an option to wipe hdd and install Linux Lite, if you wish LL as your OS.
As Ottawagrant wrote whether to use 32bit or 64bit is a consideration of the RAM capacity.

If your wireless card is otherwise working, being unable to connect is likely due to a driver not being installed, or an issue with the driver installed.

Menu>ALL>Install Drivers> Additional Drivers  which drivers are visible ?

If not -

1/Open a terminal window and copy paste this -

sudo lshw -C network

2/ press enter.
3/ Type your password and press enter
4/ Copy paste the results of "Wireless Interface", and below this "Product" and "Vendor" into your     
    reply, and the community will be able to provide accurate help for your wifi.

I've done that but still no internet. I may actually abandon Linux and try Windows 10 as I think I can get it free from Microsoft, even though this had been a nightmare when it automatically installed itself on another pc last year.

is it the machine with hardware button/slider on edge/side of machine for wifi reset ?
I read before on forum this was the problem with another laptop, but am unable to locate the exact post about it.
